Ann Weitzman-Swain, Ph.D., licensed psychologist, is the founder and clinical director of the Eating Disorders Recovery Center of Athens. She brings extensive training and experience in the treatment of eating disorders and leads the center’s clinical vision and care approach.
Dr. Weitzman-Swain is committed to raising awareness about prevention and early identification of eating disorders. She conducts seminars for community groups and healthcare professionals to improve understanding, early detection, and effective response to eating disorders.
She provides individual, family, and group therapy for people at all stages of recovery. Her clinical specialties also include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, sexual abuse issues, family and parenting concerns, and behavioral problems in children.
Dr. Weitzman-Swain is a lifelong learner who continuously reflects on her practice and adapts her approach based on each patient’s needs. She is dedicated to ongoing learning, teaching, and providing effective, individualized care for those facing eating disorders and other life challenges.
Early Life and Background
Dr. Grace was born and raised in New York. After graduating from college, he trained and worked as a professional horticulturist at the Botanical Gardens in New York City and then moved to Bermuda, where he continued that career.
Academic Training in Psychology
Upon returning to the United States, he lived in Atlanta and began his graduate studies in clinical psychology. He interned with a consortium in southern Mississippi where he trained in an inpatient psychiatric hospital, a community mental health center, and a university counseling center.
Clinical Experience and Practice
He completed his postdoctoral work with a psychology practice in the Atlanta Medical Center. He moved to Athens in 2007 to join the Eating Disorders Recovery Center and to start a private practice called Grace Psychotherapy.

He retains a lifelong interest in nature and working with plants. He spends his free time working in his extensive gardens and greenhouses and is a long-term practitioner of meditation.

Dr. Heather Richardson, a licensed clinical psychologist, provides individual and group therapy to adults and adolescents. She also leads a DBT skills group for adolescents.
Dr. Richardson conducts assessments including cognitive testing, bariatric evaluations, and personality assessments to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
She integrates experiential techniques with person-centered therapeutic relationships and an integrated theoretical framework to provide individualized treatment tailored to each client’s needs.
Dr. Richardson has experience treating personality disorders, eating disorders, trauma, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, and major life transitions.
She is dedicated to continuing her training and clinical experience to stay current with advances in the field and provide effective, evidence-based care.
